FOREST FIND

1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing

Without question, one of the most iconic cars of all time — the Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing.  A two-door coupe that hit the market in 1954 was directly derived from the racecar that won the Carrera Panamericana and the 24 hours of Le Mans. Under the hood, the fuel-injected, 2,995cc single-overhead camshaft engine engine was rated at 215 bhp. It could generate speeds upwards of 160 mph, making the 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing one of the fastest production cars in the world.

The Gullwing coupe endures as one of the most iconic postwar sports coupes, and remains a marker of highly sought after design in the classic car market.

Forest Find in 'silvertone' is being made available to the public for purchase for the first time in over ten years. Breck uses his proprietary and creative technique to enhance the glorious 'subject' while minimizing the background — which enhances with the feel and setting, but allows the star of the artwork to shine — the Gullwing!  This is high-quality automotive art, made for those with a critical eye and discerning standards. The forest of Mount Palomar is the scene for the photoshoot.

Breck — "The Gullwing doors which hinged up top at the roof were actually designed out of necessity. After creating with a tubular chassis, the Mercedes-Benz design team realized they had a problem when it came to the doors. The problem, of course, turned out to be a huge blessing in disguise — one we all came to quickly desire in the 50's."
