In the Shadow of His Wings

American B17 Bomber & '53 Jaguar XK140

Reminiscent of the Americans 'covering' the British in WWII as we came to the rescue.  I could not help but think of of the Word of God in Psalms.  Four verses speak of it, but from Psalm 57:1 — " for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast."

Featuring an iconic '53 Jaguar XK120 Roadster with an iconic WWII B17 Bomber airplane. The two-seater XK120 was originally intended as a test and show model for the new 3.4-liter, 160 bhp six-cylinder engine, but not for the production. However, when it was launched at the 1948 London Motor Show, it caused a sensation. Everybody fell in love with the wing line and Jaguar quickly put the XK120 into production.

The plane, dubbed, The Flying Fortress, is a B17 Bomber. It was used by the USAAF in daylight strategic bombing campaigns during World War II against German targets.

The B17 Bomber was owned by General William Lyon and the setting was at his hangar at John Wayne Airport [SNA].

Breck "My heart just melted and moved with emotions as I saw this set up for the Gala on the night before the Newport Beach Concours d'Elegance.  I just sensed the Word of God, 'In the Shadow of His Wings' as I saw the American B17 Bomber 'covering' the British '53 Jaguar ... the Americans covering the British in WWII is what came to mind."
